Solef® 5000S is a crystalline high molecular weight powder form of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) specifically designed for solvent-based non-architectural coatings. It forms mechanically strong and tough films that have a broad useful temperature range. These films are highly resistant to most environmental conditions including gamma radiation and are essentially transparent to ultraviolet radiation. The weathering characteristics of Solef® 5000S coatings lead to excellent performance for the long term. SAFETY Solef® 5000S is stable at temperatures up to 600°F (316°C). When it is subjected to temperatures above 600°F (316°C) for extended periods of time, hydrogen fluoride (HF) begins to evolve, and at temperatures above 700°F (371°C) HF evolution becomes rapid. Solef® 5000S exhibits excellent flame resistance; however, in case of fire, HF and traces of potentially toxic fluorocarbons can be formed. HF is corrosive, causes burns on contact, and has an American Conference Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Threshold Limit Value (TLV-TWA) of 3 ppm (2.5 mg/m³) (1984). Thermal decomposition of Solef® 5000S to HF can also occur in a bake oven in the event that temperatures are not controlled properly. In the event of fire, use NIOSH approved self-contained breathing apparatus and skin protection to protect against volatile decomposition products. Solef® 5000S can be disposed of in an approved landfill, but should not be incinerated unless permitted by applicable law and provision is made for absorption of HF.

It is suitable for most applications in temperature ranging from -10°C to 230°C, offering outstanding resistance to aggressive media such as hot organic and inorganic acids, caustics, amines (especially hot amines, i.e. at temperature higher than 70°C), ketones, aldehydes, esters, ethers, alcohols, fuels, solvents, sour gases, hydrocarbons, steam, hot water, ethylene and propylene oxide and mixed process streams. Moreover it can cope with a wide range of potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and aggressive cleaning agents, being especially suited to withstand steam-in-place (SIP) and clean-in-place (CIP) procedures. Moreover its structure was specifically designed to deliver enhanced extrusion resistance and rapid gas decompression (RGD or explosive decompression ED) resistance requested for many high pressure gas applications in the oil & gas industry. Its extreme cleanliness along with its broad chemical resistance make PFR 06HC the suitable sealing material for most wet semiconductor processes (wafer cleaning, polymer removal, wet etching, polishing), for photolithography developing and stripping and for general purpose fab equipments (pumps, scrubbers, filters, chemicals delivery systems). Tecnoflon® PFR 91 is a very high fluorine content, chemically resistant peroxide curable fluoroelastomer. It can withstand very aggressive conditions, such as almost all chemical species, including organic and inorganic acids, diluted alkalis, ketones, esters, alcohols, fuels and hot water. Tecnoflon® PFR 91 bridges the gap between traditional fluorocarbons and perfluoroelastomers.
