Halogenfreie, flammbeständige, thermoplastische Ummantelungsverbindung UNIGARD™ RE DFDC-1638 Black ist eine halogenfreie, flammbeständige, thermoplastische Verbindung mit geringer Rauch-, Korrosionsbildung und geringer Toxizität. Es ist auf Standard-Kabelummantelungsanwendungen ausgelegt. Als Ummantelung eingesetzt erfüllt es leicht die Brenntests IEEE-383/UL-1685 (Limited Smoke Test) für Kabel. Die Kabelgestaltung spielt bei der Flammleistung selbstverständlich eine wichtige Rolle. Es kann als Ummantelung für Kabel eingesetzt werden, bei denen Betriebstemperaturen von bis zu 90°C auftreten. Diese Verbindung kann PVC, PVC mit geringer Rauchbildung und halogenhaltigen Kautschuk als Ummantelung mit ausgezeichneter Brandsicherheit (niedrige Rauchbildung, niedrige Korrosivität und niedrige Toxizität) und einem guten Gleichgewicht zwischen den Eigenschaften ersetzen. Diese Verbindung erfüllt oder übertrifft viele branchentypischen Ummantelungsspezifikationen: UL-1277, UL Subject 444 für Standard-Kommunikationskabel, Massenübertragungsanwendungen und diverse internationale Anwendungen. Als halogenfreie, flammbeständige Ummantelung ist DFDC-1638 Black darauf ausgelegt, konventionelle halogenfreie Ummantelungsprodukte zu ersetzen. Diese Verbindung verfügt über eine sehr viel bessere Verarbeitbarkeit als andere halogenfreie Ummantelungsprodukte. Es kann eine höhere Extrusionstemperatur aufrecht erhalten (bis 392°F [200°C]) und kann in den üblichen einschraubigen Mess-PE-Schnecken extrudiert werden.
