SI-LINK™ AC DFDA-5488 NT Africa & Middle East
DFDA-5488 NT is a fast cross-linking catalyst masterbatch designed to be used with the scorch retardant DFDB-5451NT ethylene-silane copolymer in order to produce insulation for power and control tray cables up to 1KV. Because the catalyst masterbatch is shipped separately from the silane-modified polyethylene, the components are very shelf-stable. Crosslinking of the insulation system only occurs after hot melt mixing of the two components and exposure to moisture. When DFDA-5488 NT is mixed with DFDB-5451 NT, the resulting system has excellent scorch resistance during extrusion. DFDA-5488 NT includes sufficient antioxidant so that the SI-LINK™ AC system provides excellent processing and product performance. This insulation system is designed to be effective on either copper or aluminum conductors. The recommended level of usage for DFDA-5488 NT is 5% by weight. The specific level will depend on the process and conditions used. For your particular application, contact your Dow representative for recommended levels.
SI-LINK™ AC DFDB-5451 NT Africa & Middle East
SI-LINK™ AC Crosslinkable Polyethylene DFDB-5451 NT is a scorch retardant ethylene- silane-copolymer developed for use in power cable and control cable applications up to 1 kV. DFDB-5451 NT may be crosslinked under ambient conditions after it is extruded with the DFDA-5488 NT catalyst masterbatch. If a black product is required for UV protection, the addition of DFDB-5410 BK is recommended. Because the catalyst and carbon black masterbatches are shipped separately from the DFDB-5451 NT copolymer, the components are very shelf-stable. Crosslinking of the total system only occurs after hot melt mixing of the components and exposure to moisture and temperature. Specifications When DFDB-5451 NT is crosslinked with DFDA-5488 NT, and optionally, DFDB-5410 BK, it should meet typical 1 kV or less low voltage specifications such as those in: - UL: 854 - ICEA: S-66-524 - CSA: RW90 - IEC: 60502-1
SI-LINK™ DFDA-5445 BK Latin America
DFDA-5445 BK is a flame retardant carbon black-filled master-batch for use with SI-LINK® PE that can be used in large cables requiring UL-44 horizontal burn flame performance. This product is formulated to pass Horizontal Burn XHHW-2 on larger cables. Specifications DFDA-5445 BK, is used at 35% in conjunction with 60% SI-LINK Cross-linkable Polyethylene DFDA-5451 NT and 5% DFDB-5480 NT Catalyst Master-batch on size 2 AWG conductors and larger. At these concentrations the necessary properties, including flame retardance, the requirements for XHHW-2, RHW-2 and RHH cables as defined by UL-44 and UL-1571, as well as Underground Service Entrance (USE-2) as defined by UL-854 and UL-1581 are met. Horizontal burn performance has been successfully demonstrated on sizes as small as 6 AWG with higher concentrations of DFDA-5445 BK. DFDA-5445 BK is a highly filled black flame retardant master-batch for addition to the standard SI-LINK PE base resin (DFDA-5451) and catalyst (DFDB-5480) moisture cure system. DFDA-5445 BK offers flexibility in tailoring the formulation to meet the horizontal burn requirement on a range of cable sizes. Typically, a usage level of 55% for DFDA-5445 BK will pass the horizontal burn test down to size 6 AWG; a usage level of 35% will pass the horizontal burn test down to size 2 AWG. The economics of the formulation may be optimized for a particular application depending on the cable sizes produced and the UL submittal sizes selected. Such factors as processing conditions, degree of cure and type of conductor can affect the results, so cable manufacturers must determine the optimal formulations for their applications.
SI-LINK™ DFDA-5451 NT Africa & Middle East
SI-LINK™ Crosslinkable Polyethylene DFDA-5451 NT is an ethylene-silane copolymer developed for use in power cable and control cable applications up to 1 kV.
