PRELIMINARY DATA SHEET KetaSpire® KT-810 is an ultra-high molecular weight natural PEEK resin having a melt viscosity ranging from 0.51-0.65 kPa-s as compared to 0.38-0.50 kPa-s for standard high-viscosity PEEK grades such as KT-820. KetaSpire PEEK is produced to the highest industry standards and is characterized by a distinct combination of properties, which include excellent chemical resistance to organics, acids and bases; exceptional retention of mechanical properties up to 240°C (464°F); best-in-class fatigue resistance; excellent wear resistance; ease of melt processing; and high purity. The KT-810 grade achieves a greater level of mechanical toughness than previously possible with PEEK, yet it is still processable by conventional methods including extrusion, injection molding, and compression molding. KetaSpire® KT-810 is particularly suited for compression molding applications such as machined parts and stock shapes wherein the inherent slow cooling rates of the process limit PEEK's toughness and often result in brittleness due to the higher crystallinity levels. The grade is available in two forms: fine powder with average particle size of approximately 50 micrometers (µm) for compression molding, and pellet form for extrusion and injection molding. The product enjoys an attractive combination of high performance properties including, very high strength and stiffness, very high heat deflection temperature along with long term heat aging resistance. Additionally, this material exhibits exceptional chemical resistance and fatigue resistance. The resin offers low melt viscosity for ease of injection molding fabrication. Injection molding processing can be carried out on standard injection molding equipment. The resin is supplied in pellet form. KetaSpire® KT-880 CF40 is a 40% chopped carbon fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone (PEEK.) The carbon fiber content in the formulation is designed to provide maximum strength and stiffness properties in a filled PEEK compound. The resin enjoys all the key performance attributes for which PEEK is known including resistance to harsh chemical environments, high heat resistance (both short and long term), along with excellent fatigue resistance. This resin is a high flowing/low viscosity grade and is ideally suited for use in injection molding fabrication. It can be melt processed using standard thermoplastic melt processing equipment. Potential application areas for KT-880 CF40 include uses in the aerospace industry and some other transportation applications where maximum mechanical properties are desired while maintaining a low specific gravity. KetaSpire® XT-920 CF30 Asia Pacific
KetaSpire® XT-920 CF30 is a 30% carbon fiber reinforced grade of the industry's first true a high-temperature PEEK. This compound provides the maximum level of mechanical properties at temperatures approaching 300°C. It also exhibits the lowest coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) within the KetaSpire® XT product family. The PEEK designation is based on the 2:1 ratio of ether-to-ketone functional groups in the polymer backbone. The material provides the exceptional chemical resistance of PEEK along with a 20°C (36°F) higher glass transition temperature and a 45°C (81°F) higher melting temperature than standard PEEK. This increase in thermal performance allows engineers to achieve higher mechanical strength for components used in higher temperature and higher pressure operating environments. Although other high-temperature polyketones exhibit thermal properties on par with KetaSpire® XT, their chemical resistance is significantly inferior to standard PEEK and KetaSpire® XT. The material's unique combination of properties makes KetaSpire® XT well-suited for applications in oil and gas, transportation, electronics, chemical processing, and other industrial uses.
