Tensile Properties of Film - ISO 527-1,-3
For film and sheet materials with a thickness up to 1 mm. For materials with a thickness greater than 1 mm ISO 527-1,-2 should be used.
Property | Definition |
---|---|
Tensile Modulus | Slope of the stress-strain curve between two specified strains (ε1=0.0005 and ε2=0.0025) |
Tensile Strain at Break | Tensile strain corresponding to the point of rupture. |
Tensile Strain at Yield | Tensile strain corresponding to the yield point. |
Tensile Strength | Maximum tensile stress sustained by the specimen during a test. |
Tensile Stress at Break | Tensile stress at the point of rupture. |
Tensile Stress at Yield | Tensile stress at which an increase in strain occurs without an increase in stress (yield point). |
Two sets of specimens are tested for anisotropic materials, the first set parallel to the direction of polymer orientation (MD - machine direction) and the second set perpendicular to the direction of polymer orientation (TD - transverse direction).
Polymer Orientation
Specimen | Diagram | Usage |
---|---|---|
1B | Rigid sheet | |
2 | Preferred | |
4 | Flexible thermoplastic sheet | |
5 | Very high strain at break materials |
